George began his plumbing career at the age of 19 working in his uncle's business at Rich Industrial Supply in the service department learning about well pumps and water systems. He continued his career with more concentration on the plumbing trade while working with several plumbing contractors in the area and obtaining his journeyman's certification in 1979. He then obtained his master's certification in plumbing, heating & air conditioning, & gas piping in 1981.
In March of 1982 George, along with a partner, started their own plumbing company and grew it into a major company of recognition in the area and finally sold it in 1997. During his career as a business owner, he saw the importance of being involved in a trade association promoting the trade in which he was dedicated to and enjoyed. He joined the Virginia Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association, where he served on the executive committee for a number of years as well as president for two consecutive years.
In March of 1998, George started another company on his own, Southside Mechanical Services, Inc., which he is president, concentrating in the plumbing and piping trade. He has and always will strive to provide the best possible service to all their customers and the best possible working environment for their employees. He is always looking for new innovative techniques and products that would be a help not only to his employees, but also to his customers. George has always maintained the philosophy that relationships are much more important than transactions and he firmly believes in putting GOD and family first both personally and in his business.
George is now concentrating on growing the company to better serve their customers, enhancing the work place for their employees, and also making it a family owned business with his sons.
